New Dell Laptops for $299

Posted on January 4, 2013 by John Nash

From http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/geek-deals-sub-300-dell-vostro-2420-laptop-with-ubuntu-linux-2013014/

Yes, you read that right: a new (not refurbished or used!) laptop with an Intel processor and full warranty for just $299. What’s the catch, you ask? This entry-of-the-entry-level laptops comes loaded with Ubuntu instead of Windows 8. And for many geeks, that’s not a catch at all.

The cost savings is by eliminating the Microsoft Windows license in favor of an Open Source Linux license. Most people will be productive with it immediately and not care that it is not Windows 8 — they are not familiar with Windows 8 anyway and the Ubuntu is quick and intuitive to use.
