If we assume (unrealistically) that all unknown OS were in fact some kind of Windows, then we have 57.04% + 16.97% = 74.01% Microsoft in some way. More likely these are Android and Apple mobile devices. If we compare Microsoft to Unix we get an idea of the relationship: 16.97% to 2.26% which when normalized to give 100% total would mean of the desktops, Microsoft has about 88% to Unix 12%. From this same data source Microsoft was down to 60-70% market share when they released Windows 7, and they cut the SRP from $399 to $230. They also backed off some of the negative publicity over lawsuits during this time frame. Looks like their attention to customer sentiment has paid off and their market share is climbing again.
