My quick research showed cost about $7.50 per LED tube with same form factor as the obsolete fluorescent tubes. Here is one web site that shows how to upgrade your lights using their parts.

Will $60 LED bulbs be the new green incandescent?
The price and carbon terrorism is so extreme — CFLs last 1-3 months, not 10 years. I have a pile on my work bench. And they hurt us more in the manufacturing and contain Hg. The law does not even force retailers to take back units which do not last the promised 10 years and rework them for redistribution! LED lighting has a promise of being better, but will it also be just an extremely overpriced scam to defraud Citizens? $60 for LEDs? Seriously!
We may need to rebuild our own lamps to use LEDs without screw in bulbs — to achieve the same result, a nearly permanent light source, for a much lower price. With LED lighting comes the practicality of permanent lamp fixtures which do not use light bulbs of any kind — a lighting appliance.
