We often miss the importance of a customer service person who can truly help us, in spite of ourselves. There was a time, long ago, when Microsoft had the very best people. This is an account of one of those amazing stories where a perceptive Microsoft customer service agent went beyond amazing to help his customer.
THE one thing that brings us to God
It is not the rites and ceremonies of religions that satisfy our most intimate needs, nor do those empower us to help others and win souls. All the religiousness in the world cannot deliver one Muslim from slavery to the hate, poverty, and violence that defines Islam. All the intelligence and Christian philosophy in the world cannot deliver one from the philosophies of the Eastern religions – I have never seen anyone argued into heaven.
Only the love of God can deliver, and it is transferred to us by the Spirit of God during our time spent in communion with him.
SSL for free forever
Over this weekend I installed the FleetSSL product on one of my customer’s servers: it worked immediately and has been reliable (so far anyway). There are however constraints which make it unavailable to “shared hosting” arrangements, in particular you must have root access to add the FleetSSL package to your package manager and install the FleetSSL package. The letsencrypt package repository is downloaded with wget and installed with yum.
But I got sheep now…
No one gave him Prozac. He got a job herding sheep. And a wife. And two sons. And settled in a nice little community in a nice little church that his father-in-law pastored. Like most of us, content in our misery. The call to go evangelize half way across the African continent to a country where he was wanted for murder was not, shall we say, convenient.
Before Abraham and Nahor
Abram (“father”) was the one who got the vision and because he believed enough to obey he became Abraham (“Father of nations”) and received the covenant by which we today come to Christ, but the knowledge of the One God stretches back through Noah to Adam. If you want to know who Adam is, read Genesis 5:2. No really, if you’re now thinking “Adam was the first man”, you should just take 5 seconds to read it.
